The Healing Powers of Water

I saw a quote that talks about the healing powers of water for empaths.

This is so true as an empath myself.

I’ve always loved being in or near water. A swim, a bath, sitting near a lake, river or the sea.

Water is healing. Cleansing. Reinvigorating.

My two favourite places in Glastonbury are Chalice Well and the White Spring. I love Chalice Well. Drinking the waters and just being in the quiet there, with the sounds of the running waters around me whilst meditating. I love The White Spring. Doing a full immersion in the pool is a wonderful way of cleansing after a period of healing.

Niagara Falls has to be one of the most spectacular things I’ve ever seen. I remember being transfixed by the sheer power and beauty of the falls and actually felt really emotional watching the cascades of water.  I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the falls.

I love the sea. From the gentle ripples lapping at your feet to the powerful waves crashing against rocks.

The sea always makes me think of mermaids, but particularly the Hans Christian Andersen version of The Little Mermaid.

A beautiful tale of unconditional love and self sacrifice.

The belief in the book was that humans don’t live as long as mermaids — who live for 300 years — but that their souls live forever, whereas mermaids dissolve into sea foam and become one with the ocean.

The Little Mermaid for me also symbolises loneliness and not having a place in society. She feels like she does not belong in the sea. Sort of feels like being on a spiritual journey…......when you start to feel you don’t really belong anywhere.

And just as the little mermaid transforms into human form, we too have the ability to change and evolve.

It’s a reminder to us to embrace our own inner transformation and embrace the changes that come with it.

This quote has always resonated with me too. Something TO THINK ABOUT.

"I must be a mermaid.

I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living."
